The set and performance space for Seoid by Graffiti, June 2018
This summer I directed Miss Happiness and Miss Flower, an adaptation of Rumer Godden's book that I read when I was 8 years old.
It played to sell out audiences in each of Cork's Libraries as part of the Cork Midsummer Festival 2019.

I still love working as a designer, and in particular, designing work for and with young people and have a close working relationship with Graffiti Theatre, designing and contributing to the devising of all of their shows for early years, most recently Seoid in the Cork Midsummer Festival 2018. Other designs for and with young people include work for: DYT, Activate Youth Theatre, Little Red Kettle, Carlow Youth Theatre, Waterford Youth Arts and Cork Opera House.
Working as a designer exemplifies what I love about making theatre: the collaborative nature of the work. The meeting of minds that can happen, facilitates the making of exciting and true work
I became a member of Brokencrow Theatre Company in 2014. Brokencrow are an ambitious production company fueled by the joy and possibilities of collaboration. Brokencrow’s exploratory model provided the opportunity for me to take the reins as director and adaptor on my version of The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett. I used my design experience to create a visual world that captured the beauty of the original story and allowed for a subtle transformation to occur from the domesticity of the drawing room into a secret garden in full bloom. We presented to capacity audiences  in the Everyman in October 2015 and again in April 2017 and toured to venues in seven counties in October 2017.

Encouraged by this I began to shift from working only as a designer/collaborator, to adapting and directing my own work.  This was further influenced by my position as Theatre Artist in Residence in Mary Immaculate College Limerick where I have been given the space and freedom to develop new ideas for theatre for young audiences while working with future teachers to unlock their creative potentials.
