BÁD SHIOBHÁN
Bád Shiobhán (Siobhán’s Boat) is a new dance work currently being developed by choreographer Siobhán Ní Dhuinnín featuring her father, traditional boat-builder Pádraig Ó Duinnín.
The piece is a subtle reconfiguring of life experiences they share, particularly those that have been moulded by the culture and tradition of boats and boat-building. Performed by Siobhán and Pádraig, Bád Shiobhán is a delicate unpicking of a daughter-father relationship through movement, text and song. Using traditional boat-building materials of wood and canvas to create textures that are both playful and striking, the work is an invitation to view tradition, familial and otherwise, in a different light.
Bád Shiobhán premiered online at Cork Midsummer Festival 2021
