Withernsea, a once fashionable Yorkshire seaside resort, is falling out of vogue as fast as it is falling into the sea.
The resort has certainly seen better years, and so have Martin, Kath, Sophie and Billy, a family on the brink of chaos and despondency. Tom Wells’s empathetic and warm- hearted portrait of modern family life, with all its complexities and flaws, follows the foursome over the course of a year as they each try to confront life’s challenges head on with touching and comical results.
